Volunteers

We have the place, the Kids, the books and the toys. All we are lacking of are on-site volunteers to complete the bigger picture. Thus, we are seeking willing teams or individuals who are:

  • interested in the opportunity of volunteering overseas
  • have the passion to pass on their expertise or skills to someone
  • are good with young kids aged preschool to teens
  • open-minded, creative, all-rounded persons and learners

You can volunteer as one of the following:

  • Youth Group/Club
  • Part of a school
  • Corporate Group
  • Family
  • Individual

You can volunteer through 2 ways:

1. Proposal/Planned Visit

Submit your interest with a proposal of your intention to visit. You can draft up a PPT or a Document on your ideas, planned activities, programmes etc that you wish to execute during your visit. Afterwards, we will review your application and discuss openly on how we can work it out, if we like your ideas.

2. Day-Trip/Leisure Visit

If you plan on travelling to Bintan for a getaway with your family/friends, and happen to have Library @ Trikora as one of your to-dos, that’s great. Our Library will be more than happy to have you around, just let us know of your arrival so that we’re informed. We recommend leisure visits to be 1-2hours. Interaction with kids and locals will be subjected to availability and our happenings on the day of visit.

Conjoinedly, our Homestay (De Kora Friends’ House) is specially built as an accommodation for committed volunteers who intend to implement programmes or lessons for the Library, usually on a regular basis. This is complementary granted only by invitation (for regular donors) or by a proposal of the programmes that the group of volunteers intend to execute. All monetary proceeds and contributions during the stay (if any) goes straight towards the funding and upkeep of the Library.

Subsequently, you may look for other places of accommodation that are affordable and nearby our place to suit your comfort and needs.

Donors/Sponsors (Corporate or Non-Corporate)

As a Children’s Library, we are always striving to provide a conducive and resourceful learning environment for our young readers. That’s where our donors and sponsors fill in the picture. They are our support behind-the-scenes and our main source of refreshing materials for our Library.

If material contributions work best for you, join us as our donor or sponsor. One-off or regular, each contribution is valued.

We’re looking for a wide range of books for our Library that are age-appropriate for preschoolers to teens. Some popular examples are colouring books, illustrated picture books, activity books, simple novels and even fact books. Encyclopedias would also be a bonus for our Reference Section that is open to all locals, students, university graduates and school teachers in the village. Educational toys and board games are warmly welcome too.

We have certain control criteria in terms of accepting material contributions as we cater to bring the best for our youths. Thus, we seek all donors and sponsors to take note that we would gladly accept items that are/have:

  • new/good-conditioned/well-maintained
  • preloved/used but STILL in usable or readable conditions
  • preferably no scratches, scribblings
  • no missing, torn pages, tattered covers or worn-out covers (for books)
  • educational value for children

For corporate sponsoring or donations, we are currently on the look-out for working computers, laptops and IT gadgets/devices that will contribute towards the dedicated management of our Book Catalogue System, as well as our upcoming IT Corner and IT programmes.
