“A simple hello could lead to a million things.”
Well, it actually started out with a really warm compliment. Our initial contact on Instagram, afterwards onto Whatsapp, led Uncle Nendra, founder of Circle of Books Indonesia, to proceed with his initiation to create a lasting memory for both the kids at Library @ Trikora and his team of volunteers. From outlining our Library’s needs to narrowing down demographic details, we were able to assist the Team in finalizing their ideas into a proposal. Volunteers? Check. Programmes? Set. And about a month later, it was eventually time to realize it!
On the evening of 13th April 2017, Library @ Trikora welcomed our Friends from Circle of Books Indonesia.

Our Friends arrived at Tanjung Pinang (TNJ-International Airport) after a 1.5hr long flight, from Jakarta (CGK-International Airport). It was 7:30pm (IDN Local Time). Pak. Doni was one of the villagemen who was sent to fetch the Team upon arrival. Embarking on the 40-minute ride to Trikora included stopping by an Ayam Penyet resto for quick dinner. It was close to 9. The roads along Jl. Trikora were relatively dim by this time. Out the windows, it was a swift repetition of dingy-looking village clusters contrasting to their illuminated counterparts – housing vacationers instead.
Upon arrival at Mengkurus, the Team was welcomed by Pak Fery (Founder) who was on-site to facilitate their voluntrip. After brief introductions and guiding them to the guestrooms for their stay, their fun-filled adventure awaits…
And this marks just the beginning of a wonderful journey! Thank you Circle of Books Indonesia for creating such beautiful memories with us! May we be able to reunite again on their next voluntrip soon.
